Four Questions to Ask Yourself

I’ve noticed for the past few weeks that my workouts have been kicking my butt. I haven’t felt nearly as strong, and I’ve struggled with things that weren’t a struggle before. Don’t get me wrong, I never let my workouts get easy. But I know my body well enough to know when something is off.

I did a little research and found out there are four things that can affect your strength.
1. Not eating the right food at the right time.
2. Eating the wrong food at the wrong time.
3. Not allowing enough recovery time
4. Not getting enough sleep.

Check, check, check and check.

I haven’t been eating bad completely, but I’ve definitely allowed myself to consume some things I know I shouldn’t. (Hello potato chips and chocolate)

I have been eating good foods, but not enough. I for sure haven’t been getting enough protein.

I usually recover pretty well between workouts, but for the past few weeks I have exerted myself physically a lot more than normal and haven’t had any real rest days.

I definitely haven’t been getting enough sleep. Because I’ve been so tired, even the sleep I have been getting hasn’t been restful.

Now that I recognize the problem it’s time to make the needed adjustments to help me get back on track.

Maybe you’re in a season that’s kicking your butt. Maybe you don’t feel as strong as you were. Ask yourself these questions.

1. Am I consuming the wrong things? Am I letting negative thoughts and words stay in my mind and heart? Am I spending my time on mindless things that don’t edify me?
2. Am I consuming the right things? Am I spending time doing life giving things and with life giving people?
3. Am I getting enough recovery? Am I taking the time to fill back up after I’ve been pouring out?
4. Am I getting enough rest? Am I so busy that I don’t stop? Am I forcing myself to rest despite everything that I tell myself I have to do?

If you see there are some things you need adjust, then do it! Make the changes you need to make to get back on track!

Make it a great week!
