When You Have To Do What You Don't Want To Do

I have loved my last six weeks of workouts. I really enjoy lifting weights, and there was a lot of weight work in those workouts. I don’t like cardio very much. I prefer workouts that are building my muscles with not very much exertion.
Or rather, a less strenuous type of exertion.

Today I got my new workouts for the next six weeks. There are a lot of squats, jump squats, box jumps, step ups, and jump lunges in this round of workouts. I do not like any of these exercises. It requires a ton of energy, I get sweaty and gross, I have to work really hard, and it completely wears me out.

However, I recognize that in order to get the results I want, I have to do some things that aren’t my favorite. I trust my trainer, and know that he is assigning me exercises that I need to do in order to reach my goals.

So what do I do when I don’t want to do what I’m supposed to do? Simple. I do it.

I make up my mind that although I may not want to, I’m going to. I don’t give myself the option not to finish. I don’t let myself be lazy. Just because I don’t want to, doesn’t mean I can’t. It just means I have to push myself past my aversion and dominate my flesh instead of letting it dominate me.

So, what do you do when you have to do what you don’t want to do? Simple. You do it.

Don’t let yourself be lazy. Don’t let yourself quit. Push past your mindset. Dominate whatever it is, instead of letting it dominate you!
