Unseen Benefits
When I started this journey I had some goals in mind. I’m nearing 50 (next year) and I decided I’d had enough of not fitting in my jeans, not liking how I looked in a bathing suit, and overall just not feeling the greatest.
When I started consistently eating right and working out. I noticed some great changes. Almost 30 pounds gone on the scale. An added ten pounds or so of muscle. Definition in my arms, for the first time in my life. My favorite pair of jeans fit comfortably again and I had to buy new jeans because most of my old ones were too big.
The more results I saw, the more motivated I was to keep going.
Last week when I got my annual blood work back I saw an added benefit that I had not even thought about. For the past couple of years my cholesterol has been a little high. Last year it was the highest it’s ever been. When I saw it I was a little concerned in the moment, but promptly forgot all about it.
After spending the last 11 months adjusting my eating habits and strategic physical exercise, this year’s results show my cholesterol has dropped over 60 points! It’s the lowest it’s been in years. As much as I said I wanted to be healthy, that wasn’t something I was even thinking about when I started this.
When you start making moves to improve yourself, you will see obvious benefits, but there may be results in unseen areas too.
Keep working towards whatever goals you have set for yourself. If you stay consistent you will reach them. And who knows, maybe you will find some additional benefits that you never even thought of!
