Choose To Like It
I got a new workout plan this week. This time it’s not for six weeks but for ten weeks. Also, it’s four days a week not three. And I’m not mad about it!
Before I even looked at it I made a decision. I decided I was going to like it. Even if I didn’t love it, I was still going to like it.
The last seven weeks I struggled because I didn’t like the exercises. I did them anyways, but I dreaded them. I didn’t look forward to working out. My mental game was off. I had to force myself to do what I didn’t want to do.
It wasn’t that the exercises were bad. They were what I needed. But since I decided at the beginning that I didn’t like them, it was a chore for seven whole weeks! If I’m being honest, six weeks since I subbed out a couple of them for walks last week.
I didn’t want a repeat of the last couple of months. So I made the decision before I even saw the plan.
There are a few sets in there that I’m not crazy about, but overall, I’m going to like these workouts. Because I choose to like them.
Are there some things in life that you haven’t liked because you made the decision that you just weren’t going to like them? What would happen if you made a decision to like them anyways? Even if you don’t love it, choose to like it. Find something about it you can like, and watch it flip your whole perspective.
There are things we have to do whether we want to or not, so why not choose to like them? You might find them a little more enjoyable!
