The Right Fuel
For the past couple of weeks I’ve noticed a couple of things. I don’t feel as strong as I was. And I look like I’ve lost a little muscle definition in my arms.
I haven’t missed any workouts. In fact, when I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago I worked out extra. But I can definitely tell that something is off.
My husband and I were talking and he mentioned the same thing. He said he realized his protein intake wasn’t where it needed to be. Mine hasn’t been either.
Building muscle requires resistance training, the right calorie intake, and the right amount of protein. I’ve been doing two of those things, but I haven’t been giving my body the right fuel. So not only am I not seeing gains, I’m seeing decline.
It’s kind of like fueling a luxury car with lower octane gasoline. It will still run, but doesn’t reach its optimum performance.
This made me think about life in general. In seasons where I’m depleted and not seeing the gains I want, what am I fueling myself with? Am I intaking the things that build my soul and my spirit? Or do I have too much intake of things that do nothing to promote my growth?
Today, not only am I going to up my protein, but I’m also going to take a close look at everything I’m doing to make sure I have the right amount of life giving intake happening!
How about you? Are you fueling yourself with the right things? Take a look at yourself and make sure you are intaking enough of what helps you grow!
