Use The Pain

A couple of weeks ago I was doing a relatively simple exercise, (called a Man Maker) when I felt a searing pain down my left side. I had pulled my glute muscle. I still finished my workout but had to creatively compensate for not being fully functional on my left side. For the next few days I was in pain. Walking was difficult, going up the stairs was agony, even sitting in the car was uncomfortable.

After a few days, the pain turned to soreness, then went away.

But it made me realize how many normal, everyday things I take for granted. The pain wasn’t fun, but I used it to be more grateful.

I’m grateful for the fact that I can walk easily, that I can drive a car without pain, that I can walk up steps. That I can exercise. Simple everyday things, that I don’t even normally think about.

Sometimes in life we experience difficult circumstances. While it’s not fun to go through painful things in the moment, we can use the pain to be more grateful for the good things in our lives!

I’m not diminishing what you have experienced, but I encourage you to take a minute today to think about the things you take for granted, and to be grateful for the little things! Use the pain to find a place of gratitude!
