Priorities
Yesterday I woke up, put my workout clothes on, and got ready to get my week started. It was a special day. My son’s last first day of high school! I can’t believe it’s already his senior year!
Every year since he was in preschool, I take a first day of school picture, although the last few years were definitely under duress. He told me that this year he was NOT taking a picture.
So, instead of working out, I sat on my front porch and waited for him. I looked at pictures of him when he was little. I shed a few tears. And as soon as he walked out the front door I was ready with my camera.
Although I was supposed to be working out, and my health is a huge priority to me, yesterday I had a greater priority. If I would’ve been in the garage, I would’ve missed the moment to make a memory I’ll keep forever. The memory of my not so baby boy, on his last, first day of school.
Priorities are important, but just make sure your priorities are what actually matters most. Don’t get so caught up in what you think you should be doing that you miss what’s more important.
Figure out what’s the most important thing, do that, and make adjustments elsewhere to make it happen. For me, I just did yesterday’s workout today, and I’m right back on track!
Take a look at your priorities. Are you so busy doing what’s important, that you are sacrificing what matters most? Push pause, get your priorities right, and you’ll be right back on track!
